Cardiff's Solomon Taiwo is set to train with Chesterfield for a week with view to a loan move as they look to boost their survival bid.
The Spireites are currently bottom of League One and will be hopeful Taiwo can provide the quality needed to climb towards safety during the second half of the season.
Taiwo is willing to drop down a division in January in a bid to gain regular first-team football having made just one appearance in the Championship this season.
The 26-year-old midfielder, who enjoyed a successful spell on loan at Dagenham & Redbridge last season, has also been linked with League Two side Oxford in recent weeks.
Taiwo will start training with Chesterfield on Wednesday and will remain with the club for a week before a decision on a loan move is made.
