Yates in talks to keep Spencer and Garbutt for the rest of the season

Cheltenham Town manager Mark Yates is hoping to extend the loan deals of James Spencer and Luke Garbutt until the end of the season. Striker Spencer has scored seven goals in 22 appearances in all competitions for Cheltenham since joining the club from Huddersfield Town in the summer. Teenage full-back Garbutt, meanwhile, has featured 11 times for the Robins since his arrival at Whaddon Road from Everton in September. Yates has held talks with the players' parent clubs and is optimistic Spencer and Garbutt will remain part of Cheltenham's push for promotion from League Two. "That is my priority at the moment and I should know soon," Yates told the Gloucestershire Echo. "I am talking to the two clubs and we can't rush their decisions, but I think we are all right with it and we are just dotting the Is and crossing the Ts."
