Chile winger passes medical and signs contract with Serie A club

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has confirmed Chile winger Eduardo Vargas has officially signed a contract to join the Serie A club. Vargas revealed last week that he was set to join Napoli and the club confirmed on Thursday that a deal had been agreed for the Universidad de Chile youngster. The 21-year-old has now passed a medical and signed a contract, the length of which has not been disclosed nor the fee Napoli have paid. "I must inform you officially that we [have] bought Vargas," De Laurentiis told Radio Marte. "A few minutes ago I received a call from Dr De Nicola [the club's doctor], who has visited the player and given his okay on the medical. "We signed the contract and won the competition for a very strong player. This is proof that we are constantly looking for young talents in the world that can help the growth of our team." Napoli face Chelsea in the last 16 of the Champions League, with Vargas also having been linked with a move to the Premier League club.
