Dean Hammond has no doubts Southampton are moving in the right direction as he prepares to make his 100th appearance for the club.
The Saints captain, a 2009 signing from Colchester, will reach the landmark if he features against Crystal Palace on Boxing Day.
A greater priority will be for Hammond to ensure Nigel Adkins' Southampton remain ahead of West Ham at the top of the Championship table.
And the midfielder appears in a determined mood after being extremely impressed by the level of ambition since he joined what was previously a League One club.
"I'd say it is a different club now," Hammond told Southampton's official website.
"The ambition when I joined was for us to get back into the Championship and we've done that on the back of a successful season.
"Things are different on the coaching staff and with players, so it's a great club to be at and a privilege to play for."
Hammond added with regards to making his century of appearances: "Obviously when I joined Southampton that would have been one of my targets and now I can look forward to it."
