Bournemouth midfielder Wes Fogden says self-control is a crucial character trait for a professional footballer at Christmas time.
Fogden, who joined the Cherries from non-league Havant & Waterlooville in October, is convinced his current club can make the League One play-offs this season.
But to do that, the 23-year-old insisted, the Dorset squad need to keep themselves in check over the festive period.
"As a professional you know you've got to be a little bit sensible," he said. "You know that you can't be eating too much and if you do it can have a bad effect on your game.
"That's only going to make Christmas unhappy for you so you just know what's right for you.
"We know as players we've got to do that to be in the best position we can be at the end of it."
