Skysports.com understands Bristol City are in talks with Manchester City regarding a permanent deal for on-loan defender Ryan McGivern.
The Northern Ireland international joined the Robins before the close of the summer transfer window and is due to stay at Ashton Gate until the end of the season.
The left-back has impressed during his time with the Robins and has made 16 appearances for the Championship club.
Robins boss Derek McInnes, who replaced Keith Millen as manager, is understood to have been pleased with the 21-year-old and wants to keep McGivern permanently.
Discussions are now under way regarding a deal for the Robins to hang on to McGivern beyond the conclusion of his loan.
McGivern has made one substitute appearance for City, and has also previously undertaken loan spells as Morecambe, Leicester City and Walsall.
He started the season by making five appearances on loan at Crystal Palace before switching to their second-tier rivals.
