Crewe captain David Artell has fiercely criticised referee Stuart Attwell in the aftermath of Saturday's draw with Crawley.
Wes Fletcher gave the Railwaymen a ninth-minute lead before fellow forward Shaun Miller was sent off with a quarter of an hour gone.
Crawley restored parity through Matthew Tubbs but Crewe's 10 men performed admirably, having three penalty appeals turned down by Attwell.
"For the sending off, I think there's a foul on Shaun just before it, but I can see why he's sent him off," Artell told BBC Radio Stoke.
Attwell has been involved in a number of controversial decisions during his short career and Artell added: "All the other stuff, it seems like he wants to be the centre of attention."
"When he's made a slightly contentious decision against the home team, he needs to get out of the limelight a little bit."
