Blackburn defender Scott Dann believes they need six points from their next two home games ahead of difficult looking festive fixtures against Liverpool and Manchester United.
Struggling Rovers face fellow strugglers West Brom on Saturday and then Bolton next week before tricky away trips to Liverpool and United after Christmas.
Dann, who joined Blackburn from Birmingham in the summer, accepts the clashes with West Brom and Bolton will be key if they are to climb out of the drop zone.
"I think the next two games we have got West Brom at home and Bolton at home next Tuesday and I think we need to be looking to pick up six points up and move out of the bottom three," Dann told skysports.com at a charity auction for The Christie Charity.
"The games against Liverpool and Manchester United put even more emphasis on the next two games and hopefully if we can get six points from those games then we will be full of confidence going into two really tough away games at Liverpool and Manchester United."
Dann is confident Blackburn can fight their way out of trouble at the wrong end of the table and insists the mood in the camp remains good despite their precarious position.
"Obviously in the position we are in it is a tough position to be in, but the lads are upbeat and confident we can get out of the position we are in," added Dann.
"It's tough at the minute as we are not picking up as many points as would have liked, but we are confident that we can turn things around."
