Steve Elliott wants Jack Butland to return to Cheltenham in January, saying the goalkeeper played an influential role while at the club.
The Birmingham shot-stopper went back to his parent club last weekend after his three-month loan deal at Whaddon Road expired.
During his stay in Gloucestershire the England Under-21 international made a huge impression on centre-back Elliott and the rest of his Robins team-mates, keeping seven clean sheets in 12 appearances, and the 33-year-old is eager to see the youngster back in a Cheltenham jersey in the new year.
"You never quite know what is going to happen in January but I know a lot of people are watching him," Elliott said.
"We'd welcome him back with open arms. He's playing in a good team which will help him develop.
"We'd love to have him back, but you don't know what's going to happen."
