Abeid eager to impress ahead of possible Premier League debut

Mehdi Abeid hopes he will soon get the chance to show what he can do with Newcastle in the Premier League. The 19-year-old Algerian midfielder impressed in his first-team debut against Nottingham Forest in the Carling Cup earlier this season and now wants to make his league bow. Abeid could be involved in manager Alan Pardew's squad for Saturday's match against Swansea at St James' Park, with Cheick Tiote still not certain to be fit, Dan Gosling suspended and Danny Guthrie injured. The Algeria Under 23 international is keen to impress and has high ambitions for the future at Newcastle. Abeid told the Newcastle Chronicle: "I hope my chance comes soon. I really want to play for this team. "I'll wait for my chance, and when I get it, I hope to do well and show what I can do. I hope to do a lot for this club." He added: "I train every day here to get a chance with the first team. Every day I try to show what I can do, and what I can give to the team in the future. "I'm really happy to work with everyone here."
