Richie Wellens: Confident Leicester can go on a winning run to boost their promotion hopes

Leicester ace Richie Wellens is confident they can get their promotion bid back on track during the busy festive period.

The Foxes are currently in ninth spot in the Championship table, five points outside the play-off spots.

Skilful midfielder Wellens knows the importance of the upcoming period with Leicester having four games in the next two weeks and he is hopeful they can go on a winning run to close the gap on their Championship rivals.

"We all know how important the Christmas period is when the games come thick and fast," Wellens told skysports.com at a charity auction for The Christie Charity.

"There are a lot of points at stake and we want to pick up as many as possible and go on a bit of a run which will hopefully see us climb the table.

"We are only five points outside the play-off positions and if we can enjoy a successful Christmas then we will be right back in contention.

"We know as a squad we have a good team with good players and we are confident that we can enjoy a successful second half of the season."
