Garry Richards' impressive showings for Gillingham of late have come with the centre-back playing through the pain barrier.
Richards has been an integral part of a Gills defence which has kept three successive clean sheets, earning the praise of manager Andy Hessenthaler for his solid displays.
And he has done so having put injury to the back of his mind, telling the club's official website: "I had a suspected cracked rib three weeks ago at Bournemouth. I've been sore and was taking painkillers but it's better.
"I also had a tight groin as well, maybe due to the ribs but I'll get treatment on that."
Meanwhile, young defender Jack Evans has joined Blue Square Bet South promotion-chasers Welling on a one-month loan deal.
Evans, 18, signed his first professional contract at Priestfield in the summer and has made one late substitute appearance this season in Gillingham's 5-2 victory at Torquay in October
