Derby County have confirmed Russell Anderson has left the club after the defender's contract was cancelled by mutual consent.
Anderson initially joined the Rams in January 2010 after an injury-hit spell at Sunderland and his deal was due to expire at the end of the season.
However, the former Scotland international has endured further injury troubles during his time at Pride Park which have restricted him to just 33 appearances for the club.
His last game for the Rams came against Cardiff City in early November when the 33-year-old suffered a hamstring injury which is expected to keep him out until well into the New Year.
Rams boss Nigel Clough paid tribute to the former Aberdeen defender following the decision to let Anderson move on.
"Russell is a fantastic professional who moves on with our very best wishes," Clough told the club's official website.
"He has been unlucky with a few injuries and the form of other players during his time with us, but throughout the last two years and he has been nothing but a positive influence in the dressing room."
