Rangers manager Ally McCoist has given Steven Naismith his backing to pursue a place in Great Britain's Olympic football team.
Stuart Pearce can select three over-23 players in his 18-man squad for next summer's Games.
Naismith, who is currently sidelined for the rest of the season, joined Scotland's Jamie Mackie in expressing a desire to play.
SFA chiefs have always refused to support plans for a united team and it had been suggested that Naismith's possible inclusion could be frowned upon, although McCoist has no qualms.
"I totally agree with him. I agree with him 100 per cent," stated McCoist.
"If I was lucky enough to be playing for Scotland and the Olympics were coming up I'd certainly want to represent my country at the Olympics.
"I find it bizarre that anybody would not want to do that."
