Minor op means Marseille without striker till New Year
Marseille striker Andre-Pierre Gignac is set for a spell on the sidelines due to a thigh problem.
The 26-year-old is scheduled to undergo surgery on Friday which is expected to rule him out of action for up to six weeks.
The France international needs a minor operation on tissue damage in his left adductor.
It is the second time Gignac will undergo surgery in just over six months as he had an operation on his groin in May, which is unrelated to his current problem.
The former Toulouse frontman has made just one Ligue 1 start this season while appearing eight times off the bench and is yet to add to the eight league goals he managed in his first year with Marseille.
