Leeds United will be hoping to ascertain the extent of captain Jonny Howson's knee injury on Friday when he visits a specialist.
The Whites have been keeping close tabs on the midfielder since he limped out of last weekend's 2-0 win over Millwall.
It had been feared the 23-year-old, who has been a virtual ever-present in recent seasons, could be facing a lengthy spell out.
Leeds have now confirmed Howson will see an expert with the hope of learning more about the severity of his injury.
"Jonny will be seeing a specialist on Friday morning," manager Simon Grayson told the club's official website.
"We've been looking at every angle this week and have been assessing him and the severity of it.
"Sometimes these things can look worse than what they are. We should know more after the weekend."
