Wigan manager Roberto Martinez has confirmed he is looking forward to welcoming on-loan youngster Callum McManaman back to the club in January.
The 20-year-old moved to Championship side Blackpool on a three-month loan deal back in October and scored his first goal for the club in last weekend's 1-0 win over Reading at Bloomfield Road.
Latics boss Martinez has been following the Liverpool-born youngster's performances at the Seasiders and revealed he will return to the Premier League's bottom side in the New Year.
"It's been great to see Callum enjoying his football and growing while at Blackpool," he told the Wigan Evening Post.
"It was important for him to get regular minutes under his belt, and we've all been admiring his progress from a distance.
"He'll be returning to our club as a more mature and confident player, ready to fight for his place in the first team. And we're all looking forward to seeing him back here in the first week in January."
Enjoyed
McManaman himself revealed he has enjoyed his time in a tangerine shirt so far and he intends to make the most of his remaining time with Ian Holloway's men.
The winger told the Blackpool Gazzette: "I've loved every minute of my time at the club.
"I just hope to spend as much time on the pitch as possible between now and when I go back."
