Lyon playmaker Ederson is confident talks regarding an extension to his current contract will reach a positive conclusion.

The Brazil international has enjoyed a return to form this season following a frustrating spell on the sidelines with a number of injury problems.

The 25-year-old was handed a starting role for Lyon's latest outing, with Yoann Gourcuff dropped to the bench.

He responded with a goal in a 3-2 win over Toulouse, with that victory helping to keep Lyon in the Ligue 1 title hunt.

Ederson is pleased to have made the most of his opportunity and hopes his recent showings will convince the club that he is deserving of fresh terms.

He told L'Equipe: "Will that goal allow me to extend my contract? I don't know.

"We are in talks so far and I hope it will be sorted out as soon as possible.

"I am reaching the end of my contract, but I believe we will find a solution.

"It is great to have scored because we know how important that match was. The playmaker position feels natural to me as it allows me to push towards goal and provide assists."
