Steve Kean: Hoping to sign a midfielder and striker in the January transfer window
Blackburn Rovers boss Steve Kean has revealed he targeting a new midfielder and striker in the January transfer window.
Kean is expected to meet with the Blackburn board this week to discuss their plans for when the transfer window swings open again next month.
The Rovers chief feels they are short of options in central midfield and in attack and he is keen to take some of the goalscoring burden off top scorer Yakubu Aiyegbeni.
"We'd like to bring a midfielder and a striker in," Kean told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph.
Excess money
"We will also look to see if there is excess money available. Then we'd like to strengthen other areas.
"But we certainly need a midfielder. At the minute we are playing Morten Pedersen in there and he is doing a great job, David Dunn as well.
"But we are a little bit light in midfield. We have been since the start of the season.
"And you are always looking to add a striker who will score goals. Yak is doing it just now but every club is looking for strikers."
