Arsene Wenger hailed an 'outstanding, mature, collective performance' after Arsenal thrashed Wigan 4-0 at the DW Stadium. Wigan has not been a happy hunting ground for the Gunners in the last two seasons, as they have thrown away two-goal leads to only take a point. But Wenger's side made no mistake this season with goals from Mikel Arteta, Thomas Vermaelen, Gervinho and Robin van Persie sealing the win which sends the Gunners up to fifth. The Arsenal boss told Sky Sports: "Maybe they started a bit stronger than us but after 10-15 minutes we took control of the game and had an outstanding, mature, collective performance and overall, we controlled the game.

"We had many new players (at the start of the season), we had many injuries and overall we have played together now for a while and that makes the team click much better. "And I must praise the players. They have a fantastic mentality, good concentration, good focus and good motivation, they are intelligent. "There is still room for improvement but overall we have good ingredients in there." As regards the club's Premier League hopes, he told Arsenal's official website: "It will be down to the teams who are the most consistent. "When you look at the scores today from the teams who are in front of us like Chelsea, Tottenham and Man City - they all won with two, three, four goals difference. That means it will be down to who is the most consistent out there."
