Walters eyes Stoke revival

Striker believes it's time to stand up and be counted

Jonathan Walters: Backing Stoke to get back to basics in the Premier League

Jonathan Walters insists Stoke must now get back to the bread and butter of the Premier League following their Europa League success.

The Potters qualified for the knockout stage of the competition after gaining the home draw they needed against Ukrainians Dynamo Kiev at the Britannia Stadium in midweek.

And after five league defeats in a row before victory against Blackburn last weekend, the Republic of Ireland international believes it is important for City to get back to basics when they meet Everton this weekend.

He told the Daily Star: "There are always ups and downs in a season but when you go through a bad time you've got to stand up and be counted.

"We've got those type of characters in the dressing room and hopefully we can take the form from the last two games into Everton.

"We made a lot of changes against Kyiv.

"But whatever team the manager picks for Everton we'll be ready to go."
