Werder Bremen has confirmed Tim Wiese will miss the Bayern Munich game on Saturday due to death of his father.
The goalkeeper has been given time off to be with his family and has not trained with his team for the last two days.
Coach Thomas Schaaf was full of understanding for the player's current situation.
"I talked to him this morning and it will be difficult to process all of this," said Schaaf.
"He will not be able available for this weekend. We will have to see how he is in a few days."
Breman are currently fourth in the Bundesliga, just three points behind leaders Borussia Dortmund.
Meanwhile, Mario Gomes will be available for Bayern Munich this weekend despite missing training on Wednesday.
Gomes has scored 13 goals in 13 games for Bayern this term, and received a knock on his shin in training but is expected to shake it off in time.
Bayern are third in the table and are two points ahead of this weekend's opponents.
