On-loan St Johnstone striker Cillian Sheridan is facing up to six weeks on the sidelines after suffering a torn hamstring.

Sheridan has scored four goals in 13 SPL appearances for Saints this season and has formed an impressive partnership with Francisco Sandaza.

However, the former Celtic youngster could have played his final game for Steve Lomas' side as his loan from CSKA Sofia expires in early January.

Lomas confirmed the 22-year-old's injury and the new Saints boss admits it opens up an opportunity for another striker to stake their claim for a regular place.

"Unfortunately Cillian's expected to be out for three to six weeks," said Lomas.

"But his bad luck is now an opportunity for the likes of Marcus Haber, Carl Finnegan and Sean Higgins."
