Samuel Eto'o has claimed he had the chance to move to the Premier League before opting to join Anzhi Makhachkala.
The move to Russia from Inter Milan made the Cameroon striker the highest paid player in the world, earning a reported £350,000 per week.
He has featured in 11 league games for the club and netted eight times.
Eto'o told France Football: "The easiest solution would have been to go on at Inter or leaving for England, as I had such an opportunity.
"But I finally made my decision for Anzhi, just like when you decide to make a long trip. It was time for me to go for an adventure again.
"I needed a drastic change to bounce back and find again feelings I had being a kid, when I was in Majorca and I was rushing for new challenges."
Mega-rich Paris Saint-Germain have been linked with a January move for the striker, but he has no interest in a switch to France.
He added: "I have just started a new adventure in Russia. I won't leave now, even if Paris is building a very attractive project, and even if you can never say never in football.
"We have had some phone calls with Leonardo, but we have never talked about football."
