Kyle Lafferty will miss Rangers' friendly clash with Hamburg in Germany on Tuesday night, but boss Ally McCoist is confident the striker's back problem is not too serious.

Lafferty, who has hit five SPL goals for Rangers so far this season, has been sent for a back scan after sustaining the injury in the 1-0 loss to Kilmarnock on Sunday.

The 24-year-old joins a lengthy list of Rangers players missing the Hamburg game, but McCoist is encouraged to see Lafferty's condition improving quickly.

"We'll know more about Kyle later on Tuesday, because he is getting a scan, but it's not something we are overly concerned about," McCoist told Rangers official website.

"It's a standard thing the medical staff do in general with one or two particular injuries and that's the case here.

"Hopefully Kyle will be okay. His back had certainly calmed down a little bit on Monday morning and we'll have a better idea of where we are later."

Carlos Bocanegra, Alejandro Bedoya, David Weir, Sasa Papac, Lee Wallace and Steven Naismith are also missing the Hamburg trip through injury, while Dorin Goian, Steven Davis and Nikica Jelavic have been given time off to recover in time for Saturday's match with Dunfermline.
