Stoke boss Tony Pulis is keen to tie down Thomas Sorensen to a new deal at the Britannia Stadium.
Sorensen's current deal expires at the end of the season and he could leave on a free transfer.
The Danish international has recently won his place back in the starting line-up after starting as second-choice to Asmir Begovic and Pulis is determined to secure his services as he feels Sorensen plays a key role on and off the pitch
"It's important we try to get something sorted," Pulis told the Stoke Sentinel. "The club feels it's important and I feel it's important.
"Thomas has been a big part of what we have been doing at this football club over the last four years.
"During the time he was out of the Premier League team, his attitude has been fantastic.
"He has shown a great commitment by the way he has handled that situation.
"We have a good dressing room here and he is one of the reasons for that."
