Celtic striker Anthony Stokes is keen for the club to secure captain Scott Brown on a new long-term contract.
The 26-year-old midfielder's deal is due to expire next summer, meaning he could leave on a free transfer.
Brown has agreed personal terms to extend his stay but talks have since stalled, with manager Neil Lennon saying the impasse was due to the fee demanded by the player's advisors.
Stokes knows the value Brown brings to the team and he believes it would be 'brilliant' if the skipper committed his future to the Parkhead side.
"It would be nice to keep him," Stokes said of Brown.
"He's a great player and a leader and if he can get it sorted it would be brilliant. But that's up to Scott to sort out with the club.
"We'd all love to see him here for a long, long time. Hopefully he can get it sorted out as soon as possible."
