Queens Park Rangers striker Jay Bothroyd is planning to report the Twitter user who allegedly sent him racist abuse after the 2-1 defeat at Norwich City.

The 29-year-old received a message on the social network from the account of a user named Karl Martin, using the Twitter handle @KarlMartin16, calling him a "useless lazy n*****" after Saturday's loss at Carrow Road.

The message - which Karl Martin has since claimed on Twitter was sent by friends without his knowledge - referred to Ron Atkinson's infamous slur against then-Chelsea defender Marcel Desailly.

Bothroyd was quick to respond to the comments, posting on Twitter: "Racist people these people are shameful."

The England cap later tweeted: "Thanks my tweeps, I will report this incident. Narrow minded people can't get away with that sort of behaviour."
