Danny Murphy: A little bit disappointed not to have finally beaten Arsenal

Sky Bet

Fulham captain Danny Murphy admitted he was slightly disappointed to have come so close to beating Arsenal at the Emirates as his side were held to a 1-1 draw.

The Cottagers were close to recording their first ever win on Arsenal soil as Gunners defender Thomas Vermaelen put into his own net to gift the visitors the lead.

But the hosts hit back with eight minutes remaining to rescue a point when the Belgian defender atoned for his own goal to head home from close-range.

"We're a little bit disappointed (to get a draw)," Murphy told ESPN.

"We caused them lots of problems and I thought we played well. They're a good side, Arsenal, and before the game we would have taken the point.

"You can hide behind bad luck stories and we have played better at home than results suggest.

"The Premiership is cruel and if you're not up to it for 90 minutes you can be punished.

"We rode our luck here a bit at the end but I think we deserved a point."
