Arsenal striker Gervinho has expressed his delight at being nominated for the African Player of the Year award.
The Gunners marksman made the list of ten players for the prestigious award along with Yaya Toure, Didier Drogba, Adel Taarabt, Asamoah Gyan, Andre Ayew, Kevin-Prince Boateng, Moussa Sow, Samuel Eto'o and Seydou Keita.
The former Lille man admits he got a bit emotional upon hearing he was in the frame for the award and even making the shortlist has filled him with immense pride.
"It would mean a lot," he told Arsenal Player. "Every African player dreams of winning this award. I was choked to learn I got shortlisted for that award.
"There are so many good players in Africa that it's a pleasure just to know I am among the 10 best players.
"If I am fortunate enough to win it I will be very happy, even more so at my young age. If I don't win this trophy, I will still be happy to be one of the 10 best players of the year."
