Izzet: Fans are being harsh

Captain Kemal Izzet has labelled the criticism of Colchester by a small minority of their own supporters on Saturday as "very harsh".

Some U's fans present at the 5-1 home drubbing at the hands of MK Dons made their disapproval clear at the full-time whistle, with manager John Ward coming in for criticism. Dons counterpart Karl Robinson branded those who voiced their negativity towards Ward as "disgraceful", and Colchester skipper Izzet has also backed his boss and team-mates. "I try not to listen to any negativity going around," he told the Gazette. "People are entitled to their opinions and I'm sure the gaffer is big enough to take anything that comes his way. "It's easy to jump on the band wagon and criticise after a negative result. But from my own point of view, it's very harsh. "We performed pretty well, especially for the first 30 to 35 minutes, and it was never a 5-1 score. We struggled a bit after they got their equaliser but to win like they did totally flattered them."
