Bristol City manager Derek McInnes wants to keep Nicky Maynard at Ashton Gate and is planning to hold talks with the striker regarding his future.
Maynard is out of contract at the end of the season and was the subject of interest from Championship rivals Leicester City and West Ham United during the summer transfer window.
Reports have suggested the Robins will look to cash in on the 24-year-old in January if the club are unable to persuade Maynard to sign a new contract.
McInnes is aware of the uncertainty surrounding Maynard's future and is keen to find a way to keep the former Crewe Alexandra youngster at the club.
"Of course I want Nicky to stay," said McInnes.
"It hasn't been a priority because there was so much to sort out here when I took over. But I am very aware of his situation and will sit down with him soon.
"He's a very good player and I want him to show that for Bristol City and not with somebody else.
"If there's a way to keep him, we will find it."
