Striker Jonathan Forte says it will be difficult to re-establish himself at Southampton, but remains hopeful of a strong return.
The 25-year-old joined North End last week to help temper an injury crisis among boss Phil Brown's frontmen and made his debut in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy penalty shoot-out win over Rochdale.
Saints currently sit five points clear at the top of the npower Championship and Forte is delighted by his colleagues' progress.
"Obviously I've got another three years with Southampton so who knows," said Forte.
"They're doing really well at the moment and I'm down the pecking order because they're doing so well, but you never know what's going to happen.
"They're doing brilliant so I can't fault the lads. Hopefully it carries on and they'll be in the Premier League."
