Skysports.com understands Derby have sealed a deal for highly-rated Mansfield defender Tom Naylor.
Naylor has agreed to join the Rams on loan before making the move permanent when the transfer window reopens in January.
A host of clubs were interested in signing the 20-year-old, but Derby have managed to lure him to Pride Park
Naylor enjoyed trials at Fulham and with Championship duo Derby and Burnley over the last couple of months, while Bournemouth also had a bid rejected for his services in September.
Rams boss Nigel Clough was keen to land Naylor and he has moved in quickly to snap up the defender ahead of his rivals.
Naylor's agent, Jermaine Blackwood of Star Management Signings, admitted the player was relishing the chance of joining Derby.
"The move to Derby has been agreed and Tom is excited at the chance of joining such a great club," Blackwood told skysports.com.
"It is a great move for Tom and Tom cannot wait to get started now."
