Paul Dickov has tipped Luca Scapuzzi to take a starring role for Oldham after he helped his new club to a 3-1 JPT victory over Crewe.

Scapuzzi scored one goal and made another just a week after arriving on loan from Manchester City. The 20-year-old's exploits, along with a double from Shefki Kuqi, sent the Latics into the Johnstone's Paint Trophy semi-finals. "Luca is a top, top player and we are lucky to have him here," Dickov said. "He has that ability to do something special which can turn a game and we are seeing glimpses of what he can do. "You don't start out at AC Milan and then sign for Manchester City without being a very good footballer. He is a class player and once the other lads get used to him we will see exactly how good he could be for the club." Dickov added: "Overall, I'm pleased with the performance because we played some fantastic football and had the chances to score a lot more than three goals. We were in control for long periods because we got the basics right and played two-touch football. "There was a spell when we lost our discipline, let Crewe back into it and showed them a lack of respect. We seemed to think we could win easily, but it's a good result and a good performance."
