Fulham teenager Dan Burn is determined to make the step up to Martin Jol's first team in the future.

The 19-year-old former Darlington defender signed a three-year contract at Craven Cottage in April and is now a part of the Premier League club's reserve setup.

Having recovered from a serious knee injury suffered in May, Burn knows he has to take considered progress but he hopes to continue to advance in his career.

"The first aim is to establish myself in the reserves setup as best I can," he is quoted as saying by Fulham's official website.

"I'm still settling into the club at the moment, so I need to take each step as it comes.

"Sometimes you might think you're getting closer to the first team, then the gaffer involves you and you realise you're not ready. It's such a big step.

"But I've just got to make sure I make progress and develop into a player who will one day be ready to make that step."
