Bournemouth are to sign Charlton's Simon Francis in January with the defender moving to Dean Court on-loan in the meantime.
Cherries manager Lee Bradbury, who pursued Francis without success in July, was delighted to have finally got his man.
He told BBC Radio Solent: "We were close to getting him in the summer so I'm delighted we've agreed a fee.
"I played with Simon about four or five years ago when I won this league at Southend.
"He is a good player and has a lot of quality. He is a big lad but very mobile and has a great delivery and is a versatile player."
