Rangers manager Ally McCoist is confident Northern Ireland international Kyle Lafferty will sign a new contract in the coming weeks.
McCoist has spoken to the 24-year-old striker about extending his stay at Ibrox and believes it should be a straightforward deal.
It comes after the Gers boss revealed chairman Craig Whyte had already opened talks with Lafferty's agent.
McCoist, who is keen to bolster his squad in January, said no figures had been agreed between the parties.
He added: "I've spoken to Kyle and he's very happy here. We are very happy to have Kyle here.
"We would want to extend his contract, Kyle wants to extend it and that's where we are at the moment.
"When you've got two parties and they both want the same thing, it gives you a good chance of getting a deal."
