Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink: Has returned for second spell at PSV Eindhoven
Striker Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink has returned to PSV Eindhoven on a free transfer until the end of the season, the Eredivisie club has confirmed.
The 32-year-old, who enjoyed a trophy-laden spell at PSV between 2001 and 2006, lifting three league titles, has penned a deal until May and will be eligible to play next weekend.
Sporting director Marcel Brands says Vennegoor of Hesselink will provide back-up to attackers Ola Toivonen and Tim Matavz while also using his experience to help develop young talents in the squad.
"Jan and the club both wanted this very much," Brands told PSV's official website. "He had a lot to thank the club for and wants to give something back.
"PSV know what he can do and obviously in his new role he will achieve something.
"He will form back-up for the striker position and his experience will also be felt by youngsters like Ruben Bentancourt and Jurgen Locadia."
Former Hull City and Celtic man Vennegoor of Hesselink added: "I'm really happy to have signed a new contract with PSV. To make a return to PSV gives me a good feeling. I just want to enjoy my football.
"We have a good squad now, with youngsters who are eager to learn and gain experience and have the potential to make it to the first team.
"I want to play my part in the club's push for successes this year. It's great to wear the PSV jersey again!"
