Stiliyan Petrov believes Jermaine Jenas will add an extra dimension to Aston Villa's midfield when he returns from injury.
The 28-year-old has been injured since arriving at Villa Park from Tottenham on loan but hopes to be involved against Norwich on Saturday
Petrov is relishing the thought of fresh competition in the heart of midfield and Villa's captain feels Jenas can become an important player for the club.
"Jermaine has been unlucky with injuries so far but we know how important he can be for this team," he told the club's official website.
"He has shown over the years what a good player he is.
"We already have competition for places between me, Stephen Ireland and Fabian Delph, and Jermaine will add to that.
"He's a typical midfielder. He can defend, he can attack, he can score goals and he's a good athlete.
"He will be a great addition to the squad when he starts playing."
