Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger is facing up to six weeks on the sidelines after breaking his collarbone during Wednesday night's UEFA Champions League win over Napoli.
The Germany international was stretchered off the pitch early in the second half of the 3-2 triumph after colliding with Napoli midfielder Gokhan Inler.
Bayern coach Jupp Heynckes confirmed after the match that Schweinsteiger is set for surgery on the injury.
"He broke his collarbone. He will be operated on tonight or tomorrow," said Heynckes.
"The doctors say he will be out four to six weeks but I do not want to commit myself to that.
"I will see how long once he starts his recovery."
He added: "Of course, he will be missed as he is an important part of our midfield and was in great shape."
Not everything was doom and gloom for Bayern, with Mario Gomez notching a hat-trick in the opening half to seal the win and keep them top of Group A.
"We put in an exhilarating first half, that was real fun," said the striker. "I was lucky enough to be the one in the middle for the three goals."
