Rossoneri star fell ill after returning from Rome on Saturday

AC Milan have revealed that forward Antonio Cassano has been admitted to hospital for medical check-ups after retuning ill from Rome on Saturday night. Cassano made a substitute appearance for the Rossoneri in their 3-2 victory over Roma at the Stadio Olimpico in Serie A that saw them stay two points behind leaders Juventus after nine matches. It is not clear at the moment what exactly the problem is with the 29-year-old, who is currently in a hospital in Milan. "AC Milan announce that Antonio Cassano was taken ill as the plane landed at the Malpensa airport from Rome last night," reads a statement from the Italian club. "The player is being kept at the Policlinico in Milan for tests." Cassano, who joined Milan from Sampdoria in January, has proved to be a vital player in Massimiliano Allegri's attacking department, and has scored two goals and provided six assists in nine league appearances this campaign. Milan are back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Minsk to take on BATE Borisov in their Champions League Group H fixture.
