Manchester City coach David Platt has played down suggestions David Silva will be named Player of the Year.
Silva, 25, was instrumental for City as they crushed their bitter rivals Manchester United 6-1 at Old Trafford on Sunday.
The talented playmaker arrived from Valencia last term and is playing with a verve and swagger that have left the pundits gushing with praise at his displays.
Although the season is still in October, Silva is being tipped as the frontrunner for the Footballer of the Year prize.
Yet, for Platt, it is way too early to be handing out that crown just yet.
"He is one exceptional player," said Platt.
"There is a long way to go in the season, there are a lot of very good players that are also doing well.
"But equally I would be very surprised if the consistency of his performances went down because we see it on a daily basis."
