Stephane Mbia believes he is 10 days away from making a comeback, meaning he will miss a trip to Arsenal on 1st November.
The Marseille midfielder has been out of action since breaking his foot in August.
Didier Deschamps' side have struggled in his absence and continue to occupy a standing in the bottom half of the Ligue 1 standings.
They have performed markedly better in the UEFA Champions League, but suffered an agonising 1-0 defeat to Arsenal in their last European outing.
Marseille will get the opportunity to avenge that setback when they go to the Emirates on Matchday Four.
They will, however, be without Mbia for that fixture, with the Cameroon international targeting a home date with Nice on 6th November for his return.
Value
"I need to play, I miss playing football every week," he said.
"I think in ten days I should be okay to start playing, fingers crossed.
"Hopefully I can show my value to the club because they need me at the moment. It has been a difficult season for us so far.
"But we won our last game (2-0 against Ajaccio) and that will help our confidence.
"I hope to return soon and play my part in helping the club enjoy a successful season."
