Accrington Stanley will be without Ian Craney for several months after he broke his leg in a training-ground collision.
The midfielder was involved in an innocuous challenge with Tom Bender, who was returning to training himself following the severe concussion he suffered which caused Stanley's Johnstone's Paint Trophy clash with Tranmere to be abandoned.
Craney has initially been ruled out for two to three months but is hoping he can return ahead of schedule.
He told the Lancashire Telegraph: "I'm generally a quick healer so fingers crossed I can be back earlier than planned. I'm sure come Christmas I'll be back playing.
"But I've just got to get on with it, it's happened."
