Wadsworth: Things are looking up

Hartlepool manager Mick Wadsworth hopes his side have put a three-game losing sequence behind them with a 3-2 win at Chesterfield.

Leon Clarke gave Chesterfield the lead with his 50th League goal, but Hartlepool deservedly took the points through Paul Murray's header and James Poole's double. Wadsworth said: "It was hard-earned and well deserved. We knew it would be tough because Chesterfield are desperate to get points and from a decent start the goal came as a real surprise, it was their first entry into our box and that gave us the kick up the backside we perhaps needed and we took the game back to them and it was a terrific team performance. "We are back scoring again after a barren three games when we only got the one penalty, but Poole had some great chances last Saturday, but this week he's carried his training ground form and his early season form into a really good performance and he's scored a terrific goal. "Their second goal was disappointing, but from there on in I thought the back line was fantastic and we had a good spell after that and took the game to them. "But we knew the last five minutes would be tough, but everyone played their part. How we won didn't really matter, what mattered was that we won and we got back into a more positive appreciation of Saturday evening."
