Sunderland striker Nicklas Bendtner is hoping the team can make it back-to-back wins against Aston Villa after beating Bolton.

The Black Cats have endured a poor season to date, but returned to winning ways on Saturday by claiming all three points at The Reebok.

It was Sunderland's second league success of the campaign thanks to late goals from Stephane Sessegnon and Bendtner.

The Danish marksman, who is on a season-long loan from Arsenal, felt it was a deserved success and hopes they can extend the run.

"It was really important," said Bendtner. "We needed it. It was a vital win for us.

"I felt it (that the goal would come). We kept possession well, had a lot of corners and kept the pressure on.

"Just before we scored the second goal they had a big chance, we needed the goalkeeper to make a save.

"Apart from that in the second half we looked comfortable.

"If you score a goal, you shouldn't go back. You should keep playing the way you've been playing before you score.

"I think that's what we did better today. We need to keep the run going.

"I've come here to play football and win matches and that's happened today so hopefully we can keep that going."
