Reading manager Brian McDermott is convinced Jimmy Kebe will sign a new deal with the Championship club.
The 27-year-old is regarded as one of the finest wide players outside the Premier League and the Royals are keen to secure his long-term future.
And after having an insightful discussion with his Mali international, McDermott revealed the player himself wants to remain at the club, despite his contract expiring next summer.
"I've spoken to Jimmy, he told me he loves Reading and wants to stay," he said.
"I know Jimmy well and I'm sure he would come to see me if that has changed."
Kebe had been sidelined for a month but made an encouraging return in the 2-2 draw against Derby in midweek.
Reading are currently 14th in the Championship after an indifferent start but former striker Shane Long is backing his team to rediscover their winning formula.
"I think if they get a run of games like they have been doing and get some wins under their belt like last season, then it could happen for them. It is promising times for Reading, I think."
