Greg Halford has identified the missing link from Portsmouth's squad - a deadly poacher.
Pompey showed their creative prowess at Ipswich Town on Tuesday evening as they created a string of chances, but failed to convert any.
They were duly punished for their wastefulness by a thumping Keith Andrews drive which saw them defeated by the solitary strike.
However, in Halford's opinion, the inclusion of a proven scorer within their ranks would take them from the vines of relegation and onto the cusp of the play-offs.
"That's one of the best games we've played this season, so to come out with nothing is soul-destroying," he told the club's official website.
"Our all-around play was good and we can take a lot of confidence from that. We had so many chances and just needed someone to tap it in.
"Maybe we need that goalscoring poacher - Billy Sharp kind of player who gets 20 goals just in the six-yard box.
"If we can add that then I think it completes our squad."
