Tranmere Rovers boss Les Parry is hoping Everton counterpart David Moyes will agree to a loan extension for teenage striker Jose Baxter.

The highly-rated forward joined Rovers on an initial month-long deal in September and that agreement expires after Saturday's game against Walsall.

Baxter has scored twice in five appearances for Tranmere and grabbed the only goal of the game in last weekend's victory at home to Oldham Athletic.

The 19-year-old was sent out on loan by Everton to build up his first-team experience and Parry is unsure whether the Premier League club will let him stay at Prenton Park.

"I'll be having a word with David this week and seeing what his thoughts are," said Parry.

"I think they sent him out purely to get some games under his belt to be ready for them, so whether we're able to keep him is doubtful."
